Update on Travellers at Hurst Recreation Ground
Just to update you further with the unauthorised camp at Molesey Hurst Recreation Ground.
The Travellers left the site on Saturday afternoon and subsequently left the Borough. The Council’s grounds maintenance contractor, Burleys has secured the site and cleared any remaining rubbish. The children’s play area remains closed today for a deep clean but is anticipated that this will reopen on Tuesday.
The Council have been granted the earliest available court hearing date for Tuesday 17 March, for a possession order from the County Court for its land at Molesey Hurst Recreation Ground.
The travellers will then be issued with the court order which excludes them from the site. Should the travellers decide not to leave the site voluntarily, further legal action will be taken to remove the travellers from the land. Further information will be available after the hearing.
A full clear up of the site will be scheduled for as soon as the site is secured. We will update you when any further information is available.
