Planning Application at Molesey Football Club & Grange Close
Background
As local residents will be aware, the land at Molesey Football Club has been the subject of a number of planning applications in recent years, and a significant amount of development has already taken place at the Club. On each occasion it has been suggested that the particular development was necessary in order to secure the ongoing viability of the Club.
Latest Proposals
Molesey Football Club, Rushmon Homes & Paragon Housing are proposing a comprehensive redevelopment on the side of the Club’s ground currently occupied by the main stand, and in parts of neighbouring Grange Close. These include the replacement of the existing stand with a new clubhouse facility, changing facilities and stands. A new nursery school and a health and fitness suite will also be built, along with 22 flats spread across three floors. In addition numbers 22-25 and 30-33 Grange Close will be demolished and replaced with two new blocks, incorporating 17 flats.
What Can Residents Do?
We have been contacted by a number of local residents who are concerned about these plans, in particular their scale, mass and density, and the height of the proposed clubhouse building (in part four storeys high), which would be much taller than any buildings in the nearby area.
You can see the plans and get more information on the Elmbridge Council website at: www.elmbridge.gov.uk/planning/online.htm (enter the reference number 2015/3282).
We would encourage any residents who have concerns about these proposals to contact Elmbridge Council to make their views known. If you look at the plans on the website there is an online form you can use, and you can also see what other objections have been submitted. Or you can write to: Christine Ellera, Planning Department, Elmbridge Council, Centre, High Street, Esher, KT10 9SD, or email . Make sure you quote the planning reference number (2015/3282). Any objections should be submitted before 13 November, although representations received after this date will still be considered.
The initial decision on the application will be made in due course by Elmbridge Council’s North Area Planning Sub-Committee, after which the full Planning Committee will make a final decision. A date for the Sub Committee consideration has not yet been arranged, but is likely to be in January. When we have a date we will publicise it on the Molesey Residents Association website.
